Beaumont Metal Works made the original Caffrey Platen to the detailed design specifications of ABS Mastersmith Ed Caffrey.   Beaumont and “the Montana Bladesmith”  teamed up to create this latest iteration for use on your grinder in your shop!    The Caffrey Platen has a steel platen plate between its 3″ contact wheel on one end and its 1-1/2″ contact wheel on the other.  The steel platen plate can be flipped on its long axis to offer both sides for flat grinding.  Its steel platen plate is 7-1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide. The Caffrey Platen rotates 360 degrees on its steel pin, which is held on the grinder with the optional tool arm.  The optional tool arm holds the steel pin of the Caffrey Platen and allows it to be locked into any position.  The tool arms are 1-1/2″ square, 18″ long, and designed to work with the KMG and the KMG-TX belt grinder, as well as any 2×72 belt grinder which uses 1-1/2″ square tool arms.    Beaumont also offers a 1-1/4″ square steel arm for the Caffrey Platen which fits the Bader-III and the TW-90 belt grinders.
